OUR SCHOOL
OUR LADY OF LOURDES PRIMARY SCHOOL BAYSWATER

Our School
Our Lady of Lourdes is a Primary School where your child is known and valued. We strive to develop every student in their academic, faith and social knowledge so that they can fully participate in the next phase in their education. We believe that students learn when they are engaged, have high expectations and are self-motivated to be active learners.
At our school, we use explicit instruction and research-based teaching approaches to create consistent and high-quality learning experiences from Prep to Year 6. Our curriculum is designed to be knowledge-rich, sequenced, and grounded in the best instructional practices, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive. We combine an understanding of how students learn with effective teaching strategies for all curriculum areas, while also focusing on the development of the whole child. By using evidence-based assessments, we carefully identify each student’s learning needs, allowing us to provide targeted support and opportunities that help them achieve their full potential.
Our goal throughout the seven years of learning at OLOL is to foster student growth in the following areas:
Knowledge and Skills - To build a solid knowledge base across the curriculum, empowering students with skills that will support them well beyond their school years.
Spiritual needs - To nurture personal faith and a sense of belonging, grounded in the Catholic faith.
Social and Emotional needs - To guide students to build self-confidence, form friendships and actively engage in the broader community.
Physical needs - To engage in a variety of appropriate physical activities to develop mobility and coordination, health and safety.
Creative and artistic needs - To encourage self-expression and the development and appreciation of creative skills.

Vision for Instruction
We are a Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic School (MACS). MACS aims to become ‘the benchmark for excellence in teaching and learning, through a coherently integrated, academically competitive and distinctively Catholic educational offering’ (MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World). MACS encourages high expectations for every learner in every school, ensuring they have a solid foundation in Literacy and Numeracy, as well as appropriate social skills. Based on evidence of how students best learn, MACS Vision for Instruction promotes a unified and consistent approach, and continuous improvement to meet the changing needs of students. It provides MACS teachers with the training and resources they need to ensure excellence and equity in all our schools.
The Vision for Instruction was launched on Thursday 22 February 2024.
Please refer to the MACS Parent Guide to Vision for Instruction for more information.
